FABRICATION OF STEEL DUCT TRANSITIONS – PRECISION & FUNCTIONALITY

The process of creating transitions between steel ducts involves joining two different duct cross-sections – such as rectangular to round – in a manner that ensures airtightness and optimal airflow capacity.

To achieve both functional and visually pleasing transitions, precise design and careful sheet-metal fabrication are essential. Thanks to our advanced technologies and the expertise of our team, we deliver top-quality workmanship that complies with all technical requirements and industry standards.

STEPS FOR FABRICATING STEEL DUCT TRANSITIONS

The process of creating transitions between different steel duct shapes requires precise planning, advanced sheet-metal forming, and rigorous quality control. Below are the key stages:

1.

FLAT PATTERN PREPARATION

Development Design:

Create a flat pattern of the sheet metal that, once cut and formed, serves as the basis for the transition piece.

Sheet Cutting:

Precisely cut the sheet according to the prepared pattern, ensuring accuracy and minimizing material waste.

2.

TRANSITION FORMING

Forming Straight Sections:

Use press brakes to bend the flat sheet into the straight sides of rectangular duct sections with precise angles.

Forming Curved Sections:

Employ rolling machines to impart cylindrical or conical curvature to the sheet metal.

Assembly Preparation:

After forming, temporarily join individual parts using clips or clamps to facilitate subsequent welding.

3.

JOINING & WELDING

Welding:

Depending on the steel type and project requirements, use MIG/MAG or TIG welding methods to achieve durable, leak-tight seams.

Mechanical Fastening (Optional):

Alternatively, assemble with flanges or clamp fittings for quicker installation and potential disassembly.

4.

QUALITY CONTROL

Leak Testing:

Subject the transition to pressure or water tests to verify airtightness.

Dimensional & Finish Inspection:

Check final dimensions against the design and inspect surface quality to minimize airflow resistance and ensure proper system performance.
